Now that February is over, I can finally try some beers I’ve been waiting for since before Christmas.
At the back end of last year, I was at Crown West Cellars when the guys told me they were going to get in some Deschutes and Sixpoint beers from the United States.
That was a pretty big deal because the arrival of those beers in Australia had seen the beer geek community set Twitter ablaze with excitement.
I didn’t figure they’d make their way to Wollongong – until that day at Crown West. So I pestered those guys for about two months, wondering when it would arrive.
It arrived in the first week of February – just as I’d decided to take a month off drinking beer. Talk about bad timing.
Still, I bought the beers because I didn’t want to risk waiting until March and hoping other beer geeks hadn’t bought the lot.
The range includes the Bengali Tiger IPA and the big sticky double IPA that is Resin and Mirror Pond pale ale and River Ale.
They also have a few brews from the wonderfully named Clown Shoes brewery.
All these beers sat at home untouched while I waited for February to end. Which it has. So I reckon you can guess which beers I’ll be trying this weekend.
